1976 saw the triples range rebadged as the “KH” series (Kawasaki Highway) with more subdued graphics than in previous years. The big change for the 250 was it finally got a front disc brake. The S3 becomes the KH400 A3 and the H2 finally succumbed to emissions legislation and was dropped, being replaced by the rather dull Z750 twin.
The 500 had another years grace as the KH500, but was strangled by extra plumbing on the intake side. The gearbox changed to a more common 1 down 4 up arrangement, but despite the lower power and with additional bracing to the frame it was probably one of the nicest triples to ride on the road.
In 1977 the 500 was dropped, just leaving the 250 and 400 to limp on for another few years. The 1980 KH250 B5 was the final UK model, but by this time it was an 8 year old design and showing its age against the new Suzuki and Yamaha models.
